Wolf Spiders

Need to Know Facts…

Wolf spiders are large, hairy critters that grow up to 35mm in length. They are colored with gray, brown, and black patterns. They are fast hunting spiders with powerful jaws and good eyesight. Generally, an outdoor spider, wolf spiders make their homes burrowing into the ground, covering the opening to their burrows in silk webs or pebbles.

Though they are not generally aggressive, wolf spiders may rear up on their hind legs to intimidate attackers. They may also bite if they feel threatened. The bite of the wolf spider is mildly venomous and may cause some mild pain, as well as swelling and itching. For the average adult, wolf spider bites are not a medical concern.

Do I Need Wolf Spider Control?

The only reliable way to detect a wolf spider infestation in your home or commercial building is to see the actual wolf spiders walking around inside yourself! They are usually found in garages, basements, house plants, doors, and windows.

How Did I Get Wolf Spiders?

Though wolf spiders are usually outdoor dwellers, it isn’t rare to come across one indoors. They venture into homes when the weather gets colder outside. Wolf spiders enter your house or building through windows, open doors, and other small openings. They are sometimes even carried inside on people or boxes and bags. Wolf spiders generally will not spin webs inside your home.

Getting Rid of Wolf Spiders…

It can be hard to conduct effective wolf spider removal yourself because of their transient tendencies.

Spiders are arachnids, not insects. Their biology has built-in sophisticated defense mechanisms that protect them from residual pest control products. Spiders are solitary creatures, not communal like most insects, so there is no domino effect when treating spiders. They have to be killed individually. At Harper Pest Control, we have developed a residual method for spider control that works very well. We treat and kill as many spiders as we see and disrupt their webs but strategically leave active webs untouched. If we can’t find the spider host, we spray the web leaving it a deadly trap when the spider returns.

Harper Pest Control will take care of your unwanted wolf spider home intruders efficiently with our CleanGreen method, eliminating the wolf spiders in your house and creating a barrier around your house to defend your home from more wolf intruders.
